COVID 19

We Are Still Open

During these difficult times we are here and are seeing urgent and essential cases and providing medications and food. Please call the practice for advice or email us at amwellvets@gmail.com before coming to the practice.

Telephone and Email Consultations

We are conducting telephone/email consults to assist owners in every way possible and each case is assessed individually.  We may ask you to email some history of your pet’s condition to enable us to respond more fully and keep accurate records. If we need you to come in you will be given an appointment.

If You Have An Appointment

If you have an appointment and are coming to the surgery please read our COVID 19 protocol below so you know what to expect. Things will be a little different as we are following the Government and World Health Organisation guidelines especially with regard to social distancing.

If you have any symptoms of the coronavirus including high temperature, a new persistent cough or feel unwell with any cold or flu symptoms we respectfully ask you to seek medical advice through NHS online services or your GP before attending the Practice.

COVID 19 Protocol

If you are coming to the practice….

  1. We ask that only one person attend the appointment with their pet where possible.
  2. Clients will be seen by appointment or prior arrangement for collection of food or medicines.
  3. On arrival you will need to ring the door bell and wait to be let in.  We currently have a one in one out policy therefore you may be asked to wait outside until the previous person leaves.
  4. We have a hand sanitiser at the reception desk and soap and paper towels in the consultation room.
  5. If you are self-isolating and your pet requires treatment, and you are unable to arrange for someone to bring your pet to the surgery, you may call the Practice and we will make an appointment for a telephone consultation and attempt to arrange an appropriate treatment plan.
  6. As a veterinary practice we already have stringent cleaning protocols in place, however we are increasing the frequency in key touch areas for the safety of both our clients and staff.

Repeat Prescriptions

Animals under our care whose owners have had to self-isolate and need repeat prescriptions for medicines or food, please call the Practice as usual to order. If you are unable to arrange for someone to collect your order, there are some local groups you can contact who may be able to help you. Please let us know in advance who will collect your order and make sure they have your details and what items they are collecting for you.

Emergency Care

Currently it is just Dale and Margaret working in the Practice.  We are very aware of the cleanliness and safety of our environment, however this also means if one of us becomes ill, we will have to shut the Practice for a period of time for self-isolation/quarantine.

Our usual emergency out of hours services would be asked to take on the supply of veterinary care for our patients but this would be for emergency treatment only.  For information and advice you can email us at amwellvets@gmail.com and we will get back to you as quickly as we are able to.

Opening Times

At the moment we are open Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm

As we are all aware, the advice we are being given is being updated on at least a daily basis and this protocol will be modified with future advice and information from the Government and the World Health Organisation.
