Dale Barter BVSc MRVCS

Dale is the owner and sole practitioner at the Amwell Veterinary Practice. He graduated from the University of Queensland in 1981.

After his first employment as a field veterinarian on a Foot and Mouth and Rinderpest Vaccination Programme in the Sultanate of Oman he moved to London to develop his skills in small animal practice.

In the process of discovering that London was the place to work  he gained a wealth of experience in a number of provincial practices from Norfolk to Wales.

In 1997 he opened the Amwell Veterinary Practice just as the north of the City of London began a period of significant revitalisation. The practice has grown alongside this exciting period of time.

He aims to supply veterinary care and advice that helps owners realise the full beneficial potential of pet ownership in the unique urban environment of Central London.

His ownership of many cats and  dogs over the 30 years he has lived in London informs the particular way the Amwell Veterinary Practice offers veterinary care.

He and the team at the Amwell Veterinary Practice are very proud to be your “pets vet for life”and hope that the relationships will be happy, healthy and beneficial to both owners and their pets.

Margaret Lamont

Margaret arrived in London in 1983. She provided administrative and management support for various medium sized companies during the 80’s and 90’s before helping Dale to set up the Practice.

She manages the business side of the Practice and deals with staffing, accounts, insurance claims, IT and supervises various aspects of clients and patient care.

Her veterinary nursing experience comes from 20 years of unpaid out-of-hours emergencies as Dale’s partner. This is why we employ Vet24 and Elizabeth Street Emergency Clinic to provide a dedicated out of hours emergency service so the care for your pet is the best it can be whatever time of day or night.

Margaret’s special interests are training and behaviour for both cats and dog and ensuring all our clients and their pets have a positive reaction to their visit to the Practice.

Margaret shares the care of Rabo, Tana, Janet and Kis Kis (our cat) with Dale.
